A SPANISH 16-BORE MIQUELET-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOL CIRCA 1720 With three-stage swamped barrel struck on the octagonal breech-section with two maker's marks of Geronimo Fernandez ( Der Neue Støckel 7388 and 7389), one retaining its gold lining, engraved flat bevelled lock signed 'MARCEL', figured walnut full stock carved with foliage in low relief around the barrel-tang, engraved brass mounts including pierced foliate side-plate inhabited by a serpent and spurred pommel with grotesque-mask cap, and original brass-tipped ramrod (iron parts discoloured, minor wear to brass, some minor defects and marking to stock, lock with some surface corrosion) 9 7/8in. (25cm.) barrel
