Beschreibung:

The red silk body with repeating floral patterns and with central band in bullion and silk embroidery on a velvet panel, the front with two embroidered medallions rendered in colored silk and highlighted with bullion and silver threads. At top the Apostle Saint John, and below John the Baptist, the diameter of each 6 inches (15.5 cm). The back of chasuble with similarly embroidered panel depicting three embroidered medallions also in colored silk and highlighted with silver and bullion thread. At top the Virgin and Child, and below two male saints, each embroidered circular medallion measuring 6 inches in diameter (15.5 cm). The color red would suggest this chasuble was reserved for certain liturgical celebrations including those related to the passion of Christ, Pentecost, and feast days of martyred saints. Each side measuring approximately 46 inches in length (117 cm) and the greatest width 26.5 inches (67.5 cm). Some wear, repairs, and losses. Possibly earlier (16th century).
