Standard US Civil War issue rifle. Features all metal in the white, three barrel bands, lockplate dated 1862 with Springfield eagle, "VP" proofs on left side of barrel, post front sight, two leaf rear sight, sling swivels and near mint full length walnut stock with no visible cartouche. An 1862 Indian head penny has been set into left side of stock. CONDITION: All metal surfaces have been cleaned bright. There is some pitting on tang, and lockplate stamps are light.
