A Victorian brass-inlaid mahogany quarter chiming table clock James McCabe, London No. 2823. Circa 1855 The case with chamfered top and ripple mouldings, front door inlaid with cut brass in a foliate and trefoil design, recessed handles to the sides set with fish scale frets, the moulded base on adjustable brass bun feet, the silvered dial signed James McCabe Royal Exchange London 2823 within the Roman chapter ring with gilt brass hands, strike/silent lever above XII, subsidiary dials for day and date in the arch, the twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, now quarter chiming on a nest of eight bells with further hour strike on the largest bell, the backplate signed James McCabe Royal Exchange London 2823 ; the case possibly re-veneered 21in. (51cm.) high
