A VICTORIAN LARGE PATINATED BRONZE AND BLACK MARBLE STRIKING EIGHT DAY MANTEL CLOCK IN THE EGYPTIAN REVIVAL STYLE JAMES MURRAY ROYAL EXCHANGE, LONDON. CIRCA 1863 CASE : topped by a bronze Assyrian winged bull figure (lamassu), flanked by two sphinxes and two pairs of columns carved with hieroglyphics, the lower plinth with presentation inscription dated 1863 DIAL : 6 1/3 in. diameter gilt-brass with painted chapters, scroll and foliate engraved centre, signed 'JAMES MURRAY ROYAL EXCHANGE' (rubbed), steel moon hands MOVEMENT: twin chain fusees, rise and fall pendulum regulation, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell (lacking), back plate signed 'James Murray/Royal Exhange/London' 13¾ in. (35 cm.) high; 22¾ in. (60 cm.) wide; 7 in. (18 cm.) deep
