A Victorian parcel-gilt lady's travelling dressing table service maker's mark of Robert Garrard London, 1844 Comprising four silver-gilt mounted glass scent bottles with gilt painted decoration, a similarly decorated silver-gilt mounted glass jar, four oblong boxes, two square boxes and two circular boxes, the covers chased with a band of husks, scrolls and flowers on a matted ground, a panel of latticework, scrolls and a central cartouche engraved with a coat-of-arms beneath Duke's coronet, with fifteen steel, brass and mother-of-pearl-mounted sewing, manicure and writing implements, a brass almanach and two silver-gilt spoons, with maker's mark of George Adams, London, 1841 and 1842, marked on bases and covers, the boxes stamped 'R & S GARRARD PANTON ST LONDON' , all in fitted wood case lined with red velvet, the exterior inset with a plaque engraved with a coat-of-arms with Duke's coronet above and with brass angles and carrying handles, the rim with plaques engraved 'J BRAMAH 124 PICCADILY' and 'R & S GARRARD & CO Crown Goldsmiths and Jewellers PANTON STREET HAYMARKET LONDON' the oblong boxes 7½in. (19cm.) long; the case 21in. (53cm.) long 106ozs. (3,319grs.)
