A VICTORIAN SILVER AND SILVER-GILT TABLE GARNITURE Mark of Elkington & Co., London, 1879 Comprising a large shaped oval centerpiece, a set of four dessert stands with ruby cut-glass dishes, a set of four dessert stands with clear glass dishes, a pair of oval fruit stands, a set of eight candlesticks, and a pair of six-light candelabra; the centerpiece, in the form of a two-handled basket on shaped oval plateau, each side applied with a coat-of-arms and two cornucopia, chased with allegorical figures of summer and flanked by a male and female faun, the fluted oval basket on crossed thyrsi, marked on base, basket, figures and hinges, one foot engraved ELKINGTON & C one set of dessert stands, each on circular base, the stem formed as a crouching faun with pierced dish and shaped circular ruby red cut glass dish, marked on bases, dishes and stems, the bases with retailer's stamp and pattern number ELKINGTON & C, 11650 the second set of dessert stands, each with bases similar to the preceding, with spool-shaped dish and shaped circular clear glass dishes cut with panels of scrolling foliage and butterflies, marked on bases, stems and dish holders, the bases with retailer's stamp and pattern number ELKINGTON & C, 16303 the pair of fruit stands, each with oval base applied with cornucopia, the tapering stem with floral garlands and applied with two seated fauns, the fluted bowl with pierced scrolling foliage and shaped oval ruby cut-glass dishes, marked on bases, figures, stems and bowls, with retailer's stamp and pattern number ELKINGTON & C, 9229 the set of eight candlesticks, each on oval base, the fluted cylindrical stem applied with ram's heads, the fluted drip-pan and socket chased with vines and ivy, marked on bases, putti and nozzles, the bases with retailer's stamp and pattern number ELKINGTON & Co, 16057 the pair of six-light candelabra, each on circular base with two satyr, the fluted column stem with ram's masks, the detachable leaf-capped scroll branches with circular drip pans and vase-shaped sockets, with detachable nozzles, the central baluster stem with flower and dove finial, marked on base, putti, branches, drip-pans, sockets and nozzles The centerpiece 35in.
