A VIENNA-STYLE DISH painted with a mythological scene of a goddess withdrawing a bow from Cupid's grasp in an extensive landscape, entitled Ariadne , within a gilt surround, the cream border reserved with broad pale-blue fan-shaped panels enriched with gilt confronting birds and foliage and reserved with gilt and iron-red diamonds enclosing black flower-heads, divided by claret and gilt circular medallions; and another dish painted with Cupid looking over Venus's shoulder, entitled Amor et Venus , within a claret and pink-ground border reserved with green oval cartouches enclosing animals in gilt landscape vignettes, blue beehive mark, black script, circa 1880 9¼in.
