A Viennese Renaissance Revival enamel, lapis lazuli and silver-mounted ivory jewel casket-on-stand** By Hermann Bhm, Vienna, Circa 1875 Decorated overall with enamel plaques depicting mythological scenes from the Loves of the Gods and further applied with floral garlands, grotesque masks and strapwork motifs, the casket of breakfronted architectural form, the stepped top surmounted by Bacchus and a nymph in a leopard-drawn chariot flanked by further figures, the pediment incorporating a watch movement with circular glazed enamelled dial above a pair of doors enclosing drawers with a lapis lazuli column at each corner, flanking a panelled frieze drawer, the stand with central panelled drawer, on square tapering legs mounted with arabesque decorations and joined by a waved 'X'-shaped stretcher with central tazza, on bulbous feet, the mounts variously stamped H B and with Viennese silver marks 48in.
