A WO SHING EXPORT SILVER TRUMPET VASE WITH DRAGON, 1880s Katalognummer: CA0917-022 Silver with chase work and reticulation, comes on its original, pierced wooden stand China around 1880 This export silver vase bears the maker’s mark “WS” and Chinese script mark of the reputed silver manufacturer Wo Shing on the base. The Woshing company had stores in Shanghai and Canton and is especially known for its articulate floral decors. This piece too shows floral decoration as well as dragon, all executed with reticulated areas. Below the dragon head we find a blanc medallion which can be used to incise a monogram. The vase is mounted to its original wooden base which also bears fine reticulation.
