ACHILLINI, Alexander (1463-1512). [ Septisegmentatum opus ]: ps-ARISTOTLE. Secretum secretorum -- De signis tempestatum -- De mineralibus - Alexander APHRODISAEUS. De intellectu - AVERROES. De Anime beatitudine - Alexander ACHILLINUS. De Universalibus - Alexander of MACEDONIA. De Mirabilibus Indie . Bologna: Benedictus Hector, 1516. 2° (296 x 203mm). Diagram of alchemical vessel on title, printer's device on last leaf. (Inkstain to upper outer margin, small wormholes, mainly marginal, with loss of 3 letters and slightly affecting printer's imprint, occasional staining.) Modern calf. An Italian physician and philosopher, Achillini was a fervent disciple of Aristotle and Averroes, and, for this, was called "the second Aristotle". He was particularly interested in alchemy and the occult sciences, as this volume, combining alchemical treatises ascribed to Aristotle, Alexander on the marvels of India, Averroes on the soul, and Achilles himself on universals, demonstrates. It was first published at Bologna in 1501. Not in Adams, BLSTC Italian , Caillet, or NUC.
