Ackermann [1808-10]. 3 volumes, 4° (345 x 280mm.), half titles, titles with woodcut architectural background, engraved dedications, 104 hand-coloured aquatint plates by Bluck, Stadler and others after Thomas Rowlandson and Pugin (some text leaves lightly browned, occasional light spotting, offsetting), later half calf retaining original boards, spines decorated and lettered in gilt (a little rubbed), bookplate of Richard Franklyn. FIRST EDITION, EARLY ISSUE with early watermarks and seven of the first-issue pointers as listed in Abbey: "A copy can be regarded as satisfactory if it carries seven or eight of the ... plates, in first state". Abbey Scenery 212; Brunet I, 39; Tooley 7. With an additional volume of 55 hand-coloured aquatint plates from various volumes of R. Ackermann's Repository of Arts [1809-13], depicting London topography (lacking title and text, occasional light mainly marginal spots), uniformly bound as above, numbered "Vol.4" on the spine. cf.
