Autograph letter signed ('John Quincy Adams') to Elijah Clark, H.R.U.S. Washington, 19 Feb[ruar]y 1846 , written in a shaky hand, sending a certificate from the Secretary of War (not included here) for an additional pension to Betty Wheat to be paid to her daughter Suzanna, one page, 4to (245 x 200mm) , mounted on card with an autograph letter from J. Agassiz. -- John TYLER (1790-1862, 10th President of the United States). Document signed as President ('J Tyler'), n.p., n.d. [1843-45] , blank ship's passport in English and Dutch, one page, folio (390 x 273mm) , countersigned by A.P. Upshur as Secretary of State, partially mounted on card with: -- James BUCHANAN (1791-1868, 15th President). Document signed as Secretary of State ('James Buchanan'), Washington, 17 August 1848 , certifying B.K. Morsell as a Justice of the Peace at Washington, one page, 4to (250 x 194mm) , paper seal (mounted by integral blank). -- Alexander BOYD. Autograph letter signed ('Alex. . Boyd') to an unknown addressee ('Honour . S. . '), Perthambay, 17 October 1776 , reporting the sighting of enemy shipping at 'Scrosbury' the previous week, and that he had engaged others to keep watch, one page, 4to (235 x 197mm) , (slightly browned, integral address leaf mounted, split at fold), all mounted on two cards.
