ADOLF LOOS (1870–1933) A TEA TABLE (ELEFANTENRÜSSEL TISCH) Starting price: 180 000 CZK (7 200 EUR) Hammer price: 420 000 CZK (16 800 EUR) Description dimensions: 66 x 86 cm (h x w) period: After 1900; Austria-Hungary, Vienna Solid walnut and walnut veneer, mahogany, brass. An iconic table manufactured by F. O. Schmidt Wien. Eight legs, top with scalloped brass edge, brass feet. Adolf Loos used this model in various styles. An identical copy is in the collections of the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna (“Design / Crafts 1890–1938” permanent collection). Literature: Eva B. Ottilinger.
