After being purchased by Rolls-Royce in 1931, Bentley production was moved from London to Derby and later to Crewe. Following on from the hugely successful series of T-series models, the next generation of cars also proved extremely capable. The Bentley Eight offered slight handling improvements and was so popular that sales expanded from the original UK market to Europe and the United States. Fuel injection and anti-lock brakes were added in 1986 with leather upholstery and power memory seats becoming standard in 1987. The sound example presented here is supplied in pale blue with a matching blue leather interior. The leather itself is in excellent condition throughout and the wood used for the dash is an elegant ebony style. The car has had seven previous owners, the last two of which were Stella Janes preceded by Lord Russell Janes. Their local workshops, Windsor Garage, looked after the car during that time with invoices available to view within the history file. A new 12 month MoT test certificate is also supplied with the owner's manual and Panasonic radio instruction book. Two Avon Turbospeed tyres have been supplied to the rear ensuring a straight and true ride. We had the pleasure of selling this fine example last year and now, due to time constraints, the new owner has decided to trim his collection. Always reliable, this gentleman's express is offered at no reserve and sports supremely understated elegance. Sadly the vendor's sister, Lucy, died at the time of publishing following a three year battle against liver cancer. She was 42 and leaves behind Alaina, age 9. Lucy was given just weeks to live but with the aid of the extraordinary work of the Cancer Vaccine Institute, she had a good quality of life for a further 2½ years. Professor Angus Dalgleish and the team at CVI rely on donations alone. All funds therefore from the sale of this Bentley, including all Historics commissions, will be donated to them and any further donations can be made through their website. http://www.cancervaccine.org.uk/donate.html
