The original painting is owned by the Walton family, who were supporters of the republican movement and Martin Walton was interned in Ballykinlar in 1921 where he formed a prisoners' orchestra. Later they would support Michael Collins and the Treaty side. Although 1,000 of these prints were supposedly ordered in 1972 for Collins' Anniversary it is believed that many fewer are actually in existence.
