Album is 5¾x4¾, full morocco tooled in gilt and blind, gilt inner dentelles, gilt endpapers, all edges gilt, metal clasps. The album has a Confederate battle flag affixed to the front pastedown, along with a small envelope containing a card on which is a seal identified as "Daughters of the Confederacy seal," indicating perhaps the sympathies of the compiler. The subjects include Jefferson Davis (from an engraving); Judah Benjamin (Secretary of War and State); Generals Kirby Smith, J.E.B. Stuart, A.P. Hill, James Longstreet, Harry Gilmore, Stonewall Jackson (from an engraving), P.G.T. Beauregard, Basil W. Duke, and others; John Wilkes Booth; Mrs. John [Mathilde Deslonde] Slidell (he was CSA ambassador to France); Mrs. William M. Gwin (he was Calif. senator and southern sympathizer); and others. Also, at the end, Queen Victoria; The Prince and Princess of Wales; Princess Louisa; Lillie Langtry and a few others.
