Album of 19 illustrations of Commedia dell'Arte figures after Callot and others, cut and mounted on 18 sheets, a few with artist's name in ink in EGC's hand in lower margin, with an additional illustration of Harvest Home figure by EGC tipped in at end, inscribed "Papa fecit 1902" in red ink at foot and "PAPA" in black ink below, with illustrated initial A by J.Oliver (EGC) mounted on front pastedown and inscribed by Craig to his son below "Book of Actors for Teddy - 1911, Florence, January - Papa. -Bound by Mama-", further inscribed by Teddy Craig below "and now, in 1968, passed on by that same TEDDY to his friend Lee Freeson who also loved EGC. 'Papa' being, of course, Edward Gordon Craig", note in EGC's hand on facing leaf "The Actors whose pictures are in this book were better actors than those known so well to us as Kean - David Garrick - Kemble - Talma - Le Kain -", lightly damp-stained, mostly to front free endpapers, green boards inscribed with title and date by EGC across head and foot of upper board, uncut, worn, spine frayed and slightly defective, 4to, 1911. *** Lee Freeson (1902-98), actor and bookdealer in books on the theatre, who helped to compile many theatre libraries in America. He corresponded with Edward Gordon Craig assisting him in his later years by selling some of his significant items to American collections; he also became a close friend of Teddy Craig.
