Numerous monochrome photographs printed in various tints, printed colored acetate overlays, fold-outs, maps, diagrams and illustrations, some of these printed in colors. Publisher's printed sheet listing the full production staff laid-in. (Soiling in some margins, occasional wear, one overlay reattached.) Original white plastic-coated boards and beige cloth spine, front cover blocked in green and gilt, spine lettered in gilt, endpapers consisting of 4 gelatin silver prints (covers bowed, spine gilt flaked-off, light wear, a preliminary leaf strengthened in the inner margin); cloth folding box. RARE DELUXE ISSUE OF THE FIRST EDITION. A SUMPTUOUS PUBLICATION, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED WITH GELATIN-SILVER PRINTS FOR ENDPAPERS, and bound in white plastic-coated boards -- an exotic binding material for the time.
