Alfred Percy Freeman. Kent & England 1914-1936. Original two page typewritten manuscript written by Charles Stowell Marriott, Kent & England 1924-1937, following Freeman's death in January 1965. Marriott talks of bowling in tandem with Freeman calling it 'combined operations', talks of his bowling, the amount of spin he put on the ball, his action, the flight he gave the ball and that he did not like bowling into the wind [Freeman usually got the choice of ends] 'During the summer term at Dulwich [Marriott was a master at Dulwich College] I was rarely able to turn out for Kent in more than one match.... but when I joined them at the end of July, usually for the gruelling dogfight at the Oval, Tich would give me a welcoming grin and we would get down to business. The great advantage of having both of us in the side was that we were so utterly different in style, pace and height that it was well worth keeping us on together for long spells, often right through the innings.... As we bowled over after over from opposite ends, he and I were continually playing into one another's hands. On some days we shared the wickets, on others, one of us, Tich, more often than not would be hauling in the big catch, while the other supplied covering fire by keeping the batsman pegged down, anxious, inpatient and so on... Nicely signed 'C.S. Marriott, January 1965'. Good condition
