Date: 1842 Description: 92 + [4] ad pp. With 8 added / extra illustrations of facsimile covers, portrait drawings, sketches, etc. from other sources, tipped-in and mounted on the front and rear endpapers and blank leaves. 9½x5¾, original printed tan wrappers specially bound inside brown cloth, with "American Notes, E.A. Housman, 1903" supralibros in gilt on the front cover. First American Edition. Penciled note on the front pastedown "Houseman Sale Anderson [?] Jan. 22, 1920." Gimbel A67; Imprints 42-1501. Bookplate of Victor B. Levit in the back. Lot Amendments Condition: Light edge wear and nicks to exterior, ½" split to upper rear joint; hinges tender, mild wear to original wrappers; slight darkening and foxing to contents, old catalogue entry clipping affixed to title; overall very good.
