AMERICAN REVOLUTION - CONNECTICUT] Large group of war-date pay-orders . An interesting assortment of documents comprising a fine group of nine 1777 Hartford partially printed pay-orders for those who enlisted their own companies in the Continental Battalion, signed in print by John Lawrence as Treasurer and accomplished in manuscript and signed in ink by various controllers, ink notations and docketing to versos, the group includes one order paying General Jedediah Huntington 1500 pounds for enlisting his own battalion, these 6 1/4 x 7 1/2 inches (16.5 x 19.5 cm), these very well preserved; two 1783 partially printed documents within a decorative border paying General John Mead, one signed by Oliver Wolcott, Jr., one trimmed close; two manuscript pay orders, 1781 and 1782; and one 1778 manuscript receipt from Billerica, Massachusetts signed by Solomon Pollard regarding the raising of soldiers, stained.
