* An 18 Karat Yellow Gold Quarter Repeating Pocket Watch with Striking Automaton Jacquemarts, Circa 1820, 55.00 mm case diameter, central white enamel dial within outer translucent dark blue enamel over guilloche finish accented with gilt Jacquemart automatons depicted as Classical male and female figures within a foliate scene above a flower basket with birds, blued steel moon hands, coin edge outer band, crown and stem are depressed to activate quarter repeating function, polished case back, Continental gilt full plate chain fusee movement with verge escapement, round pillars. Estimate $ 2,000-3,000 Property from the Estate of Gerard L. Cafesjian, Naples, Florida The movement is stamped 1123. The top of the stem between the bow is clearly stamped with French owl import marks. The watch is not in working condition. The repeater function was previously partially operational (Jacquemarts moved, chiming was very fast) but has become stuck and is not currently in working order. The watch requires professional repair. The crystal is loose and shows no obvious wear. The central dial shows minor-moderate scratches to the enamel under 10X magnification, the painted numerals and chapter ring are clear and distinct. The hands show no discoloration. The outer blue enamel border shows small chips around the entire outer edge, several hairline fractures between 12 and 2 o'clock (visible under 10X magnification), and a foreign substance on the surface (possibly adhesive) between the bells. The applied Jacquemart, bell and foliate accents show minor discoloration and sharp detail. The outer case shows overall minor-moderate wear consisting of superficial scratches, there are no obvious dents or breaks to the case. The movement is loose within the case and can be removed easily. The blued steel gong has been partially uncoiled and sticks out of the case when the case back is open. The chain is partially coiled around the fusee. The balance spring is intact and the balance wheel oscillates correctly.
