An anonymous Clavecin Royal, Germany, circa 1785 The oak case raised on four square tapered legs. The later oak cross-banded lid with an inner painting depicting Glenarm Castle. The plain oak nameboard bearing a later paper label inscribed: Johann Gottlob, Wagner. In Dresden. The five octave keyboard FF–f3 with ebony naturals with arcaded fronts and ivory capped accidentals. Stossmechanik action with under-dampers. At the bass end of the keywell a curved brass lever controlling the dampers and a stop-knob, once probably operating a missing harp-stop. Single ebonised bridge. Two ‘ Kirckman’ style roses surface mounted on the soundboard. Width 174cm, depth 56cm, case height including lid 26cm.
