Root & Son, in crushed blue Levant morocco, inlaid design, intricately tooled in gilt and red, decoratively tooled spine with raised bands, matching tooled inner dentelles; Moire silk endpapers, all edges gilt; blue cloth slipcase. Exquisitely bound by London's W. Root and Son, with handwritten letter from the binders on their letterhead, dated July 18, 1935, detailing the time and work that went into the binding, noting that "we are aware that this is the most expensive binding that we have yet done for you." Lot Amendments Condition: Light wear to slipcase; some light scuffing to gilt edge, spine slightly sunned; ownership signature and chop stamp to blank page at front; volume near fine.
