An aquamarine pendant and en suite ear clips by Scortecci, the detachable pendant set with a pear cut aquamarine, estimated to weigh 61 carats, in a five claw setting, with a textured leaf detail surmount below a brilliant cut diamond accent, suspended from a spray of engraved foliate decoration accented with cultured pearls, brilliant cut diamonds and two further pear cut aquamarines, on a fancy link chain, signed Scortecci, and stamped '750', pendant 8cm long, chain 36cm long; together with a matching pair of ear clips, the pear cut aquamarine drops, estimated to weigh 6 carats each, with textured leaf detail surmount and brilliant cut diamond, suspended from a detachable engraved flower head set with a central cultured pearl, with post and clip fittings, 4.7cm long The aquamarines in this suite of jewellery were purchased loose in Brazil in the early 1960s, when the vendor's family were members of a European diplomatic mission to Brazil, and were subsequently mounted to the current vendor's designs by Scortecci. The aquamarines in the suite are of a deep colour known as 'Martha Rocha'. The original Martha Rocha aquamarine was a 35 kg stone found in 1955, so named after Martha Rocha, the first Miss Brazil. The original crystal was cut into 300,000 carats of gemstones, and one set of these aquamarines were given to Queen Elizabeth II as a gift from the Brazilian Government. Condition report disclaimer
