AN ATTIC GREEK POTTERY PITCHER Late Geometric IIB, Circa 720 B.C. From the 'Soldier-Bird' workshop, with an ovoid body and a broad flaring neck, a tall strap handle joins at the rim and shoulder of the vessel, with a supporting strut, two nodules projections on the shoulder, the surface of the vessel decorated with umber slip in horizontal bands of geometric designs, and a frieze of stylised birds, 45.5cm high. Provenance: Collection of Nicholas Koutoulakis (1910 - 96) Paris; with Puhze Gallery, Freibourg, 1980s; from a German private collection, 1980s - 2016.
