An early 20th-Century lacquered brass compound binocular microscope, signed on the arm POWELL & LEALAND 170 Euston Road LONDON and dated 1904, with rack and pinion focusing and micrometer fine adjustment, the massive limb with fully mechanical and circuit stage, and circuit stage with finely engraved scale, sub-stage condenser signed Powell & Lealand London, with rack adjustment and plano-concave mirror, the cast tripod stand with pad feet and double cork inserts, 2 Semi Apo. Oil Imm. N.A 1.40 and Apochromatic N.AO.90 objectives, and leather box containing a prism for low powers and opaque objects, with mahogany case - 12¼in. (31.2cm.) high. See Colour Plate (2)
