Depicted seated with his feet apart on a trapezoidal integral plinth, wearing a short pleated kilt, a cap-crown and an incised broad collar, a papyrus scroll unrolled on his lap, his large eyes once overlaid, preserving traces of gold for the sclerae, the sides of the plinth incised with hieroglyphs, the front reading: "Imhotep, Giver of Life;" one side reading: "(to) Mehenu(??) son of I" 7 1/8 in. (17.9 cm.) high
