AN EMBROIDERED IMPERIAL YELLOW SILK ALTAR FRONTAL 19TH CENTURY The altar frontal is worked in satin stitch in shades of blue, turquoise, red, pink, white and gold, with a central Daoist yin yang symbol supported on a stand surrounded by scrolling tendrils and auspicious symbols. The nine-panel apron at the top is embroidered with the bajixiang , and below it are two pendent tabs embroidered with a Tibetan prayer. 30 x 51¼ in. (76.2 x 132.7 cm.)
