An English Civil War Period Pikeman's Breast-Plate, And An English Civil War Period Harquebusier's Shot-Proof Breast-Plate Both Mid-17th CenturyThe first with medial ridge drawn-out to a point above a flanged rounded skirt (minor damage) carrying two pairs of staples pierced for hook-catches, plain turns at the neck and arms, the former pierced with a central hole and stamped with crowned armourer's mark, and with hook and staple-catches for shoulder-straps; the second of similar form, with short skirt and struck beneath the neck with a double stamped mark and crowned mark, probably of the London Armourer's Company (some surface rust and old pitting) (2) 41 cm. and 41.5 cm. highFootnotesThe first stamped with IR crowned arsenal mark of the reign of James II, and the second stamped with the mark of the London Armourers Company.
