An English walnut and marquetry longcase clock The hood with later ripple mouldings and later spiral-twist columns, glazed side panels, with convex throat mouldings above a trunk door with reserves of bird and flower marquetry (restorations), lenticle glass, the sides with line inlays, the plinth with floral marquetry panel and on later skirting, the 11in. square brass dial now within a giltwood frame, with cherub and coronet spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with sword hilt half hour markers and signed Richard Milles Edin , matted centre with cup and ring decoration, ringed winding holes, subsidiary silvered seconds ring and date aperture, later hands, the five ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on later gong, with later seatboard and built up cheeks; dial and movement associated to case, circa 1695 -- 82in.
