AN ENGRAVED BRASS CELESTIAL GLOBE heavily cast with iron pivots above and below, a pierced hole in the position of true South, the surface finely engraved with the positions of the stars together, in shallow relief, with the depictions of the constellations which they form, each identified in well-formed minute naskh within stylised clouds, often emanating from the mouth of the constellation, a cloud near the true North engraved 'the work of Nasir al-Din al-Tusi, 1205' (1790-1 AD), probably Indian 6¼in. (15.7cm.) diam.
