(8vo) 21x12.5 cm (8¼x5") period calf, rebacked with later leather. First Edition. ""The first of several works on the natural sciences by George Adams the Younger, son of George Adams the Elder, who succeeded his father as the mathematical instrument maker to George III. In many of his published works he combined a religious with a scientific aim, and "applied all his knowledge," says the Gentleman's Magazine, "to the best of purposes - to combat the growing errors of materialism, infidelity, and anarchy." Lot Amendments Condition: Boards a bit rubbed; small hole in margin of first few leaves, light foxing; very good. Item number: 270757
