The'Poro' society is the central association in Senufo culture, referring to the 'Old Mother', the female origin of the supreme deity as the protector of the 'Poro' initiates. Presented on a high pole for all to see, these birds are symbolic representations of both, fertility and social cohesion between the different generations.
