With turn-off barrels each with an engraved band at the rear, one barrel numbered '1', border engraved actions decorated with flowers, foliage and martial trophies enclosing signed oval panels on each side, the pans, cocks, steels, and safety-catches all offset on the right hand side in order to allow a clear line of sight down the barrels, the safety-catches also locking the steels, the combs of the cocks with forward curl, blued steel-springs, finely engraved trigger-guards, swelling figured walnut butts finely inlaid with interlaced scrollwork in silver wire, cast and chased silver butt-caps decorated in relief with a scallop-shell and a grotesque mask, and silver escutcheons each engraved with owner's name 'J. Clitherow', London proof marks, silver maker's mark of Charles Freeth (2) 8¼ in. (20.9 cm.)
