An exhibition standard 1:48 scale unrigged boxwood Navy Board style partially planked model of the Royal ship rigged sloop Myrmidon (1781-1811) built by P. Danks from plans supplied by the National Maritime Museum with cutaway masts and bowsprit, carved warrior figurehead, hair rails, heads, catheads with sheaves, belaying rails, gratings, stove and stove pipe, the deck, partially planked and pinned to reveal 'twean deck detailing, capstan, companionways, ballustrading, bell and canopy, helm, tiller, deck light, twenty 6-pdr guns in carriages and six carronades in slides. The hull, finely planked above the mainwhale and pinned with tre'n'ls has open gun ports, scuppers, chain plates and dead eyes, stern and quarter cabin windows, the transom with delicately carved swag decoration, and finely cut and shaped framing, finished in black, blue, venetian red and varnish and mounted on two slender columns -- 7½ x 33½in.
