An exquisite mid 19th-Century silver- and gold-plated brass, instrument maker's, miniature, model twin cylinder horizontal mill engine, the whole mounted on eight similarly patterned pierced supports with twin cylinders approx ¼in. bore x 6in. stroke, piston valves operated by two eccentrics, hand operated main stop valve, the handle above and the valve itself fitted below the floor, the crossheads running in four slide bars, barrelled connecting rods with pinned big ends decorated with finials, 'S' shaped cranks and centrally mounted oval rimmed spoked flywheel. The engine floor forms part of a silver plinth (not hall marked) with chamfered edges and fitting into an ebonised wooden display base on four pedestal feet -- 4 x 6½in. (10.2 x 16.5cm.) overall measurements . Domed cover (cracked)
