* An Important Suite of Fossil Clam Shell Crystal Opal and Pink Diamond Jewelry, "Memoirs of the Ocean", Karin Tremonti, fabricated by Zarian, consisting of matched 18 karat white and rose gold necklace with removable extender sections, dangle earrings and ring, the suite containing 19 opalized fossil clamshells weighing approximately 318.32 carats total, numerous round brilliant cut pink diamonds weighing approximately 19.38 carats total, and numerous round brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately 11.32 carats total. Accompanied by a fitted mahogany presentation case. Provenance: Illustrated on page 28 of Fred Ward's revised edition of 'Opals', published 2011. NOTES: The artist pays homage to her native Australia by incorporating not only the natural pink diamonds of the Argyle mine but also specimens of fossil opalized clamshell from the unique find at Coober Pedy, Australia. Dating to over 40 million years in age, these opals are not only of gem quality but also of great interest to Natural History as well. Assembling a collection of this quality and volume is exceedingly time consuming. The whimsical design of the necklace incorporates pink diamonds to signify the pink sand beaches while the diamonds represent the ocean surf in their swirling shapes. 144.00 dwts.
