Comprising a large shaped painted wooden base with pinstripes, upon which rests a five-piece monkey band, each monkey comprised of a composition/papier-mache type painted face with mohair fur set with and realistic glass eyes, similarly modeled hands and forearms, and with composition shoes, each holding a different type of instrument, some very likely replaced. The interior set with electric motor and motion cables, the motor runs but none of the cables are currently connected, the base approximately 60 inches wide, 30 inches deep, and 44 inches high (back tier). Overall height from ground to top of the highest monkey 60 inches, height of tallest monkey 31 inches. The lot is accompanied by a 1986 dated Des Moines Register newspaper clipping illustrating the offered lot as being part of a benefit auction in Des Moines, Iowa in conjunction with the Younkers Department Store and the Des Moines Opera. It is further accompanied by a 1986 dated receipt, as well as a copy of a narrative related to the auction mentioning the "electric five-man monkey band" which the narrative states once graced the halls of the Iowa Governor’s Mansion, Terrace Hill.
