An Inside Painted Rock Crystal Snuff Bottle possibly early 20th century the rectangular form bottle having rounded shoulders raised on an oval foot ring, painted to the front depicting a portrait of Qing Dynasty official, Li Hongzhang (Li Hung-chang, 1823-1901), the reverse dated jiaying sanyue ("March in the year jiaying, " corresponding to year 1914) followed by vertical two-line calligraphy, a signature of Ma Shaoxuan (1867-1939) and a red seal of Shaoxuan, having an amethyst and possibly citrine stopper. Height 2 3/4 inches. Estimate $ 1,500-2,500 Property from a Midwest Collector In overall decent condition. The stopper glued to the mouth. Bearing an old retailer's or collector's label to the back and underside. Lacking a spoon. Wear consistent with use.
