AN IRON-RED AND INCISED 'BIRTHDAY' PLATE KANGXI (1662-1722) With shallow rounded sides rising from a short slightly tapered foot to an everted rim, the interior incised with two striding five-clawed dragons and clouds surrounding thread-relief characters hong fu qi tian within a classic scroll border and linked lotus flowers around the well, the rim enamelled in iron-red with the 'hundred' bats, the base with an underglaze blue Chenghua six-character mark within a double circle 6¾ in. (17.3 cm.) diam.
