Beschreibung:

English, c.1779, engraved 'D. Bolton, Kimbolton, Invenit', the microscope based around a solar microscope design:
as a solar microscope, the design is of typical form with a brass window plate with adjustable mirror, condenser lens in screw-in mount, screw barrel microscope holder with a set of 6 simple screw in projection lenses,
as a Cuff-Type microscope, the solar plate is used and the mirror is to be used in conjunction with the Cuff-type body that fits in a dovetail at the base, in the center of the solar microscope plate is fitted the Bonnani type stage,
The outfit also comes with the top part of a compass microscope ( missing handle & objective thread is bent)
all of this is contained in a later fitted large flat mahogany case, most probably original to the microscope.
Note: we can find no record of a D. Bolton in Kimbolton as an instrument maker. we have been unable to find a microscope arrangement similar to this with the microscope body using the solar microscope as the mirror
