CIRCA 1780 The case with relief cast figure of Britannia to a swan neck cresting applied with a ribbon-tied brass foliate mount, the back box sliding on to a bracket with acanthus-cast brass gallery and acanthus and berry terminal, with concave cast brass bezel to silvered and engraved Roman and Arabic dial signed 'Tucker/Portsmouth', pierced blued steel hands, the eight day movement with tapering plates joined by four ring-turned pillars, single gut fusee with restored verge escapement; spring-suspended pendulum, crank winding key, case key 34 in. (86.5 cm.) high; 16¼ in. (42.5 cm.) wide; 7 in. (18 cm.) deep
