An unusual small iron and brass turret clock movement unsigned, probably Continental, 18th century and later The posted iron frame with square section corner uprights riveted to the open square top and bottom plates, the predominantly brass wheelwork pivoted between shaped brass movement plates with two wooden winding barrels and scroll pierced crossings to the original wheelwork, the anchor escapement and countwheel now lacking, motion-work incomplete and generally with some losses and alterations, 62cm high. Although the general layout and construction using brass movement plates is reminiscent of English work, the decorative wheel crossings and turnings to some of the arbors suggests a Continental origin. Provenance: The Workshop of John Hooper.
