APOLLO 15 CHARTS – Three charts, 1970-1971. Apollo 15 collection of orbit and landing site charts, two SIGNED by Dave SCOTT. The group marks various milestones within the Apollo 15 mission from the Earth and lunar orbits to the landing site. Further details on the contents of this lot: 1. Apollo Earth Orbit Chart (AEO), Apollo 15 Mission, For July 26, 1971 Launch Date . Aeronautical Chart and Information Center, USAF for NASA, 6 Novermber 1970. First Edition. Color Earth Map, 13 ½ by 42 inches. Plots the first two orbits in light and dark blue and the TransLunar Injection (TLI) burn in red over the Pacific Ocean. Ground station areas of coverage are the near circular features surrounding each site. SIGNED and INSCRIBED: "Dave SCOTT, CDR." 2. Apollo Lunar Flight Chart (ALF), Apollo Mission 15, July 26, 1971 Launch Date. 2 June 1971. First Edition. Color Lunar Map, 12 by 36 inches. Plots the ground track spread between the first and 74th lunar orbit and the maximum viewable limits to the horizon. Larger craters and mare are identified. SIGNED and INSCRIBED: "Dave SCOTT, CDR." 3. NASA-MSC . NASA. Dramatic high contrasting view of the Apollo 15 landing site. An internal NASA chart with only a small identifier label of “NASA-MSC.” 22 by 17 inches. Hand drawn contour lines mark every 10 meters of elevation. The low sun angle produces dark shadowing of Hadley Rille and surrounding craters. This sun angle was very close to the exact conditions Dave Scott and Jim Irwin had during their lunar landing phase on Apollo 15.
