Apollo Operations Handbook, Lunar Module, LM-2, Volume 1. GAE, 1 January 1967. 8.5 x 11 in. with screw pin binding. One of the most detailed manuals ever published for the LM which was designed to provided operating instructions and flight procedures for the astronauts. All systems, subsystems, and their interface relationships are described with fold-out diagrams on controls, displays, propulsion, and crew personal equipment. Additional sections on in-flight preventive maintenance and mission tasks. LM-2 was originally planned to be the first manned flight vehicle, but due to various delays, the role was shifted to that of the back-up vehicle for the Apollo 11 Lunar Module Eagle . LM-2 is now on display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY RUSTY SCHWEICKART on front cover. Schweickart was Lunar Module pilot on Apollo 9, the first manned flight of the LM.
