Archive of letters and photographs from the young HRH Prince Albert (later George VI) and Prince Edward of Wales (later Edward VIII), kept by Dr Frederick Douglas Selmes Jackson (1873-1942), Doctor in Attendance at Sandringham, c.1904-1906, comprising: Cabinet photograph of Prince Albert and Prince Edward of Wales wearing kilts, signed and dated ("Albert. 1904. Edward") beneath the image, trimmed on right hand side, 153 x 104mm.; Cabinet photograph by W & D Downey of Princes Edward, Albert and Henry with Princess Mary, labelled with their names and dated "1905" by Queen Mary on image, trimmed slightly at bottom edge, 160 x 110mm.; photograph of the Sandringham village football team, "Prince Edward Captain" identified in pencil on reverse, some tears and creases, lower left and right corners missing, 142 x 195mm.; group of eighteen photographs showing the Royal family enjoying country pursuits including shooting (9 including Edward VII with a shotgun, George V and others in the field, groups with Queen Mary), fishing (4 of Prince of Wales and Albert Duke of York with Dr. Jackson, 1905, with 2 glass slide negatives), riding (1), skating (2), golf (2 Prince of Wales and Duke of York), 107 x 82mm. and smaller);
Letters and postcards from the young Princes, including autograph letter signed ("Albert"), to Dr Jackson, thanking him for the "...nice box of electric golf balls... I wish you could come down and have a game of golf...", with envelope, one page, 8vo, York Cottage, Sandringham, 14 December 1906, with thank you notes written in pencil, notes for "Dr Jackson's children" signed by Edward and Albert (2), and one for Dr Jackson, some with envelopes, 5 pages, 8vo, York Cottage and Marlborough House, 1904-1906; three Christmas picture postcards annotated (one signed with messages by Edward ("Good luck!!!!") and Albert ("A powerful Ponk!!!!"), 1906), and two cards; typed invitation to theatricals at Sandringham, November 1906; with nine game cards from Royal shoots around Sandringham, including that of HM The King, January 1905 (total bagged 1159 including 403 pheasants and 647 rabbits), others showing weekly and season's totals (24,065 for 1904-5); held in a large envelope addressed to "Dr Jackson/ West Newton" (quantity)
