ARCTIC REGION.] A group of 5 engraved maps, comprising: HONDIUS, Henricus. Poli Arctici et Circumiacentium Terrarum descriptio novissima. Amsterdam, ca 1636. Engraved map, fully colored by a contemporary hand, image 440 x 492 mm (498 x 575 mm sheet), blank cartouche, English text on verso. (Some darkening to image margins, a few marginal tears and repairs.) "A very rare map by Hondius, following the James' map, showing New Severn and Port Nelson" (Kashnor). Empty dedicatory shield in Asia. Burden identifies this as State 2 of this map, published in the 1636 English edition of Hondius's Atlantis novi . Burden 246. -- HONDIUS, Henricus.
