Attributed to Thomas Willis (American, 1850-1912) Portrait of the American Steam Yacht "LINTA." Unsigned. Oil on canvas with velvet and silk applications, 15 3/4 x 26 in., in a carved oak frame with gilt liner. Condition: Very good. Note: The Steam yacht Linta was built in 1905 at Morris Heights, New York, as a civilian pleasure craft. She was owned by Walter Luttgen. Two years later she was acquired by the Navy and served in WWI as a patrol and escort vessel in the New York City area. She was decommissioned in 1919 and returned to her owner.
